The Work
My work is consciously non-representational. It is
not an abstraction of a prior image, but reflects a search for the order
found within chaos: an attempt to capture meaning and beauty within
an instant - the timeless moment.
I am interested in the emergence and re-emergence of
form within the painting; the interplay between surface and subsurface.
I work intuitively, with little or no initial plan other than a general
approach and colour direction, allowing the work to evolve in the process
as it will.
I am concerned with texture, brush-stroke and the quality
of paint itself. I work with space and colour, and Perth - and the West
Coast generally, with its clear light and broad horizons – is
an absorbing source and inspiration.
